Roger Housden grew up in St.Catherine’s Valley, a cleft in the Cotswolds on the edge of Bath, in England. He has led contemplative journeys all over the world, and in an earlier life was a freelance feature writer for The Guardian newspaper and an interviewer for the BBC. He has been a full-time author since 1997.
He is the author of twenty books on poetry, art, and travel, including the bestselling Ten Poems series which started in 2001 with Ten Poems to Change Your Life. His next book, due to be published in March 2014, is called Keeping the Faith Without a Religion. His work has been featured many times in The Oprah Magazine, in The New York Times, and in the Los Angeles Times. Roger emigrated to the United States in 1998 and now lives in Marin County, California.

Most of the things we attempt in life are relatively easy, the hardest part is getting out of our own way and being gentle with ourselves in the process. In this talk Mike Robbins discusses how living with self-compassion and personal responsibility allow us to live with purpose.

Dale’s key professional experiences include Life Coaching, Career Counseling at Duke University, Outplacement Consulting, Fund Development and Human Resources Management in both for profit and non-profit arenas. Dale brings enrichment to her work through the multicultural influences of living overseas and extensive international travel.
For over thirteen years Dale served in an organization dedicated to addressing the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault and economic hardship. To this end, Dale has supported women from across the U.S. to Australia and South Africa in claiming their authenticity and personal power through educational and experiential learning settings. She is Co-Founder and past President of Woman to Woman Kentuckiana, and currently serves on the Woman Within International, Ltd. Board of Directors. As a result of her volunteer work in this organization, Dale was the recipient of the International Rose Award.
Dale earned her BA Degree in Psychology from Duke University, is a Certified Life Coach through The Life Coach Institute, is trained in the Hakomi method of body centered psychotherapy through the Hakomi Institute, Boulder, CO, and is a Certified Facilitator and Leader through Woman Within International, Ltd.

The Ever Forward Story in 3D: Desire, Dedication and Determination

The story of a teacher who sets out to create a support group to help some young men pass Algebra and ends up creating a non-profit that has helped dozens of youth discover their true selves, graduate high school, attend college and begin living life on purpose.

 

Ashanti began mentoring when we was 17 years old growing up in Oakland, California. After participating in the Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement Program (MESA), Ashanti attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to study civil engineering. After working in Corporate America for 5 years, the deeply rooted passion to educate took over and Ashanti returned to school to become a high school math teacher. In 2004, during his first year teaching math at San Lorenzo High School, Ashanti founded The Ever Forward Club to decrease the young men of color who were failing classes. In 2006 the program added support circles for young women.
Ashanti was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship in 2007 to teach math in India. This experience ignited in him a deeper trust that students held to high expectations and provided with high support can achieve academic success regardless of the odds they face. Since 2009, Ashanti has worked with several rites of passage organizations to initiate young men along their journey to manhood and has supported over 50 young men to complete their initiation. Ever Forward hopes to be a part of the development of a Rites of Passage initiation for urban youth.
As Ever Forward celebrates its 10th anniversary, the organization will be featured in a documentary from The Representation Project coming in 2014 called The Mask You Live In. The Organization is working to raise capital to bring the program to scale. In addition to his work with Ever Forward, Ashanti is currently the Assistant Principal at a middle school in Oakland.
