Live Stream Instructions

Requirements for Streaming Video on Your Computer

  1. Is my internet connection fast enough?
The ability to view the video in optimum quality is dependent upon the speed of your internet connection. Video streaming requires a fast connection, so the best connection is a broadband internet connection (either cable or DSL). Wireless connections may or may not work depending on how fast they are. For those with wireless connections, we recommend that you connect directly to your router with an Ethernet cable connection if that is possible (rather than using wireless).

We recommend a minimum download bandwidth of at least 1.0 Mbps for a smooth playback experience. You can test your bandwidth download speed here (click on "begin test"). Bandwidth fluctuates constantly, especially on WiFi and mobile networks, so running three tests is recommended. You can also try viewing the class using lower bandwidth options, including 3G and 4G networks.

  2. Is my computer fast enough and operating system recent enough?
Live streaming works on a Mac or PC. The streaming will work best on a newer computer (less than 5 years old).

Mac: G4 or Intel Processor, 512 MB RAM; Mac OSX v10.4 or newer
PC: 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM (2GB for Vista); Microsoft Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7

  3. What internet browser do I need?
Video streaming is compatible with most major browsers on most major operating systems. We recommend upgrading your browser whenever possible to the most recent version. Please make sure to enable cookies and turn off pop-up blockers when watching video streaming.
    Firefox (Windows or Mac)
Safari (Windows or Mac) download safari
    Chrome (Windows or Mac)
    Internet Explorer (Windows only)

  4. How do I know if I have Adobe Flash Player installed?
The Adobe Flash Player plugin is required. The latest version is recommended. You can download the Adobe Flash Player plugin or check your current version here.

  5. Is there anything else I need to enjoy the videos?
We recommend you get a pair of external speakers or a headset with a long cord. Laptop and desktop speakers are often not big enough or don’t provide very good audio quality.
